The topic of the presentation is about the history of Value Engineering; what true Value Engineering is and what differentiates true Value Engineering from cost shearing efforts sometimes mis-labeled as value engineering; how and when to apply value engineering on projects as project managers; some examples of Value Engineering study results and the SAVE International credentialing program for Value Engineering professionals.
About Our Speaker: Don H. Stafford, PE, CVS-Life, FSAVE, CTM
Don Stafford has spent the last 31 years conducting professional Value Engineering studies on capital projects and business processes across North America. Prior to that, he was a design engineer and project manager on a variety of civil engineering projects in the Southeast, including serving as program manager for Atlanta’s $210 million Three Rivers Water Quality Management Program. Don is a civil engineering graduate of Georgia Tech and a registered professional engineer in Florida and in nine other states. He is certified at the highest level of competence in the practice of Value Engineering. He is the former Vice President of Education and a former member of the certification board for SAVE International®, the professional Value Engineering association. Don is also currently vice president and program chairman for the Central Florida Chapter of SAVE International®. He has conducted more than 350 Value Engineering studies in his career. Some of his more notable Value Engineering projects include the New York City Medical Examiner’s 12-story forensic DNA laboratory; the Everglades restoration program, the farthest north railroad in the world, and homeport facilities for the nuclear aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln carrier task force
