Communications Blame Game: How and Why Communication Breakdowns Happen - An Alternate View
As Project Managers we have all heard from management, "Why didn't you know?" or "How could this have happened?" This blame for miscommunications occurring because of something you as a Project Manager were perceived as not doing, but clearly it was the team member who didn't do what they should have? We all know that having a Project Manager is clearly a magic wand to having a perfectly delivered project, on time and on budget with no outstanding issues right?
Many times these miscommunications occur more due to a lack of understanding, not around what is said, but rather how it is perceived – by both management and your team. Each of us as individual have unique viewpoints, so when crafting our communications how do we create one message...but speak each person's 'language?' How you know which 'language' to speak?
This presentation will provide an alternative view on how to address various types of known project failures: The Deadline Misser, The Bad Communicator, The Detail Neglector, and The Subpar Prioritizer.
